Primary Care Engagement & Education Event

The Greater Manchester strategy for early cancer diagnosis places education at the heart of improving outcomes, ensuring that our primary care workforce is equipped to help meet both national and local ambitions for earlier detection.

This Primary Care Education Event will provide essential learning and updates for the primary care workforce, with a focus on priority pathways that include: Lower GI, Urology, Lung, Gynaecology (including endocrine therapy), and Breast. There will also be an update on the metastatic strategy and its implementation.

The session will be hosted by Ali Jones (Director of Cancer Commissioning and Early Diagnosis GM Cancer Alliance) and Dr Sarah Taylor (GM Cancer Alliance Associate Medical Director for Early Diagnosis and Primary Care and salaried GP) who will be accompanied by Clinical Leads representing all the pathways outline above.

In particular the event will focus on:

  • Understanding key pathway-specific issues, as identified by the Cancer Alliance AMD, Early Diagnosis Clinical Lead, and Clinical Leads
  • Diagnostic tests and updates
  • Delivering clear and effective communication messages for patients

The event will be made up of both presentations and panel discussions providing ample opportunity to ask questions and engage with clinical leads.
