We’re excited to announce the fifth in the series of Lunch & Learn events for primary care. Each session will focus on a particular topic / tumour site —this session will focus on Early Diagnosis.
The sessions will be an opportunity to ask questions of the hosts, and these can be sent in advance to: gmcancer.earlydiagnosis-primarycare@nhs.net
Early diagnosis of cancer dramatically improves patient outcomes, yet many cancers are still detected at a late stage. In primary care, every member of the team — whether clinical or non-clinical — has a vital role to play in spotting the warning signs, supporting patients, and ensuring timely action. This webinar reviews and highlights key themes in early diagnosis in primary care and aims to explore how your role, no matter your job title, contributes to the early cancer diagnosis. This webinar is open to all, but the Cancer Alliance would like to reach out to and engage non-GP clinicians specifically.
This session will take place on Tuesday 12th August from 1pm – 1:50pm and will be hosted by Ali Jones (Director of Cancer Commissioning and Early Diagnosis GM Cancer Alliance) and Dr Sarah Taylor (GM Cancer Alliance Associate Medical Director for Early Diagnosis and Primary Care and salaried GP).
Topics covered will include:
- Early cancer detection: Importance and impact
- Recognising early signs and symptoms
- Protocols and pathways
- The primary care team
- Patient engagement
