Identifying Late Effects of Cancer in Primary Care

Date TBC

This is the first in a series of educational offerings for all primary care and community colleagues about the consequences of cancer and its treatments, often termed ‘Late Effects’. This programme has been shaped by feedback from primary care colleagues.

Suitable for all Primary Care Professionals involved in the care of people affected by cancer.

  • The late effects of different types of cancers and treatment
  • The symptoms associated with those late effects, and
  • Which patients may require additional surveillance or treatment as a result of their history of cancer.

Future webinars will focus on how to treat late effects in primary care and when to refer on to other services, and the impact of late effects on a patient’s quality of life.

  • Treatment related neuropathy
  • Lymphoedema
  • Sexual Dysfunction following cancer treatment

Genomics Education Event

This event will provide an understanding of genomics and the work being done to embed testing into oncology pathways in Greater Manchester. 

The day will feature educational workshops and a discussion panel with Service User Representatives and Healthcare Professionals.

North West Genomic Medicine Service Alliance

The NHS North West Genomic Medicine Service Alliance (NW GMSA) is one in a network of seven regional alliances launched in England in January 2021 by the NHS Genomic Medicine Service (GMS) to oversee and co-ordinate the embedding of genomics into routine healthcare across England.

The NW GMSA are represented on the Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance Genomics Delivery Group to ensure their project aligns with the Genomic Medicine Service deliverables.
